Youth mentor and motocross stunt performer believed to have sexually abused additional children in at least 10 states

In December of 2021, a motocross rider and stunt performer, Ryan Andrew Meyung, was arrested in Hamilton County, Tennessee for sexual crimes against a 12-year-old child in Hixson, Tennessee.

Meyung was charged with multiple counts of child rape, aggravated kidnapping, and other related charges.

Who is Ryan Meyung

It is reported that Meyung was running an Indiana based business known as “Live Your Dreams MX” that involved him traveling around the United States and other countries building motocross tracks. His work also reportedly involved teaching and mentoring children on how to motocross.

It is further reported that Meyung has additional past and present connections with several youth-oriented organizations and youth ministries across the United States.

Recently, over the past two years, it is reported that Meyung also performed work for a company in Hamilton County, Tennessee as a driver, delivering products to various places across the United States.

A civil case is initiated by an individual (referred to as a plaintiff) who is oftentimes the victim of a crime. The plaintiff files the case against the responsible party (also referred to as the defendant).

The defendant in a civil case can be the individual who caused the harm, or the institution that enabled the individual to cause the victim harm.

A civil case gives the victim a voice that is often overlooked in the criminal process. A plaintiff in a civil case must prove his or her case beyond a preponderance of the evidence.

This is a much lower standard than in a criminal case.

Because the criminal standard of proof is higher than it is in civil cases, if a defendant is convicted of a crime, he or she cannot argue that he or she did not commit that crime when it comes to the civil case.

Local and federal law enforcement have since partnered together or a broader investigation into Meyung’s activities. It is believed that Meyung may have sexually abused children in at least ten (10) states, including Pennsylvania, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Michigan, Kentucky, Indiana, Georgia, and Tennessee. It is reported that “a lot of young kids used to look up to” Meyung.

Meyung is reportedly transient with no known permanent address, having resided with local families in areas where he builds motocross tracks and hosts motocross camps for children, or living out of a bus that he co-owns with another unnamed individual.

It is reported that Meyung had taken two children into his white bus to “talk about dirt bike stuff” where he sexually abused one of them.

The children tried to fight Meyong off and escape, however, the bus doors were locked. An affidavit stated that the children eventually escaped the bus and, as they ran away, Meyung shouted “don’t tell your Dad.”

Since the initial public reporting of Meyung’s arrest, it is said that individuals from other states have contacted investigators with additional information regarding Meyong victimizing other children.

Anyone with information related to Meyung’s arrest, or who suspects that a child may be one of his victims, is encouraged to call the Homeland Security Investigations tipline at (866) 347-2423.

Meyung remains jailed in Hamilton County, Tennessee.

Similar cases of sexual abuse have not only resulted in criminal convictions but also civil judgments. It is important that victims receive justice and those who are responsible are held accountable to the full extent of the law.

It is not uncommon for perpetrators of child sexual abuse to abuse multiple victims and it is expected that more victims of Meyung’s abuse exist and have yet to come forward.
