Perpetrators

Dr. Christopher Sheerer, 35, a pediatric cardiac anesthesiologist at Boston’s Children’s Hospital, is facing charges of possessing and distributing child sexual abuse material. Sheerer began working there on July 1st and is no longer employed as of the arrest. Sheerer started at Boston’s Children’s Hospital after departing Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, where the investigation began by federal prosecutors.

It is not uncommon for those who possess child sexual abuse material (CSAM) to escalate from viewing to acting on harmful impulses. Research consistently shows that those who consume CSAM are at a higher risk of perpetrating contact sexual offenses against children.

We encourage you to come forward, as more impacted children are likely out there.

Can a Civil Lawsuit Help Victims Seek Justice for the Trauma They May Have Experienced By Dr. Christopher Sheerer?

Victims who appear in child sexual abuse materials (CSAM) have civil rights to their protection and recovery. These rights include the ability to seek justice through civil lawsuits against their abusers and those who distribute or possess these materials. Victims can claim compensation for the profound emotional, psychological, and financial harm caused by their exploitation. Legal avenues also provide a means to remove CSAM from circulation and prevent further victimization. Upholding these civil rights is essential in the fight against child sexual abuse, ensuring that survivors receive the support and justice they deserve.

By initiating legal action, survivors can hold institutions that may have enabled or failed to prevent the abuse accountable for their actions. Civil suits allow victims to seek compensation for the physical, emotional, and psychological harm they have endured.

Additionally, these lawsuits contribute to raising awareness about the prevalence of sexual abuse and fostering a culture that prioritizes the safety and well-being of individuals over organizational interests. As a result, survivors gain a platform to share their experiences.  Thereby challenging the culture of silence surrounding sexual abuse and empowering others to come forward.
