Hefner is charged with first-degree child rape, first-degree child molestation, and communication with a minor for immoral purposes. Victims were ages 9 and 11 at the time the abuse began.

Hefner is already a convicted sex offender as a result of charges and a conviction in 2021. Discovery Playtown Daycare hired him after completing a background check that missed the conviction.
