Kurt Zimmerman, 55, a Rockaway teacher and band director in New Jersey, has been charged with repeatedly sexually assaulting a student. According to authorities, Kurt Zimmermann was the band director for the Westwood School District. Police say he sexually assaulted the victim on multiple occasions over four years. The victim was 13 when the abuse began. Zimmerman has worked since 2013 at Hopatcong High School, first as a band director for ten years and then as coordinator of student discipline over the past three.
