Mercersburg Academy, a private boarding school located in Franklin County, Pennsylvania, has been the subject of multiple accusations of sexual abuse and harassment over the years. Some of the most high-profile accusations have involved former faculty members accused of sexually abusing students.

In 2017 a graduate of the academy came forward with allegations of sexual abuse against former teacher Paul Suerken; Suerken was an English teacher and also held several other positions at the school, giving him unfettered access to children, including being dormitory dean, a cross-country coach and heavily involved in the school’s musical programming. After decades of employment, Suerken died in 2010 after leaving the school in 1996.
