Who is Naasón Joaquín García?
Naasón Joaquín García,54, previously served as a minister for the Light of the World Church, also known as La Luz del Mundo, in East Los Angeles. He is under arrest for possession of child pornography. He is currently serving a 17-year sentence for forcible oral copulation on a minor and one count of committing a lewd act on a child. The Church still stands by Garcia in defense of him.
In June of 2023, protestors stood outside of the Light of the Worth Church, alleging that sexual abuse still occurs within the church. Others claimed the abuse dates back to the church’s founding in 1926.
