Durham police have recently charged Oscar D. Reyes, a former employee of Central Park School for Children (CPSC), with multiple child sex crimes. The arrest, which took place on January 27, has raised questions and concerns among parents whose children attended the school’s after-school program during the 2022-2023 academic year.
Details of Oscar D. Reyes Charges:
The investigation into Oscar D. Reyes began on November 3, 2023, when police filed a report following allegations of misconduct. Reyes, a 20-year-old part-time employee at CPSC, worked with the after-school program and has been charged with indecent liberties with a student, sexual battery, assault on a child under 12, and misdemeanor child abuse.
The school has since terminated Reyes’s employment following his arrest.
Reyes is in custody at Wake County Jail on a $10,000 secured bond. Authorities are urging anyone with information related to the case to contact Investigator K. Williams at (919) 560-4440 ext. 29330 or CrimeStoppers at (919) 683-1200.
The arrest of Oscar D. Reyes has prompted a critical conversation about child safety and the measures in place within educational institutions. As parents navigate these unsettling revelations, maintaining open lines of communication with their children and staying informed about school policies becomes imperative.
