Father John William Vovko was a priest in the Cleveland diocese from 1968 until the mid-1980s when he took a leave of absence. He moved to Arizona, where he resurfaced. He was convicted in 1990 for trying to molest a 2-year-old boy. He was sentenced to one year in jail and a lifetime probation. He was a teacher at Mesa high school at the time, so he had his teaching certificate revoked. He is shown as “absent on leave” from the Cleveland Catholic Directory since 1988.
