In 2003, a man filed a suit against Father Madrid Saul accusing him of drugging and sexually assaulting him in 1987 when the man was a minor. Father Madrid was sent for treatment at the Congregation of the Servants of the Paraclete in 1988. After he was released, Father Madrid was reassigned to further duty.

Father Madrid resigned in 2002, and his civil suit was settled in 2005. He was ordained in 1985.
